Idolatry of the Heart

“What so beats in your heart that if it were to vanish, you would no longer be you?”
I found this striking question on Pam Farrel’s book entitled Woman of Influence. And I guess we all have one thing in mind, we are all afraid of losing our toys. These toys that sometimes turn into rivals of God in our hearts and causes us to sin.

The things you often spend out time with that make you forget your priorities and obligations. Things that controls the way you manage your life even manipulate but you just can’t compel. Things that occupies your mind until the end of the day. You know can’t part with them without bleeding. The parting hurts the most. You always come into conclusion that you can’t live without it. The bothersome part is it leads to detour, much worse is destruction.

The woman in Samaria in John 4 reveals how she was changed by God’s grace. She had five husbands and living with another man. She was a slave after her own heart but when God revealed that He knows what the woman was doing with her life, she was instantly changed.

How many times we’ve heard, “Follow your heart?” And how often does it lead us to trouble? But what good does it bring when one follows his own will of the heart? Consequences, right? Do you belong to your heart or your heart belongs to you? I have these questions lately and it surely made me think that if I submitted to God everything and trusted whatever he might give or not, then, my heart should be after His.

God knows I am thirsty for something just like the woman of Samaria does. And it’s amazing to know that God satisfies those who seek thirstiness in him.

“Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’” (John 4: 13-14)

Maybe you’ve spent so much time in the well where like the Samarian woman was drawing water. Pray for your heart’s desire, He will surely change it.

The Happy Poet

I am a happy poet
I write not with a grin but a smile
I am a happy poet
I speak of life; running the extra mile
I am a happy poet
And wisdom is my delight
I am a happy poet
I fly in a different height
I am a happy poet
No lust, no drugs, no temporary high can satisfy
I am a happy poet
God’s love is my blue sky
I am a happy poet
Need no rain, nor sunshine to get inspired
Yes, I am a happy poet
My processed words comes from the inside
I am The Happy Poet
